Carolina tiene ocho años y estudia segundo grado. Vive con su mamá y sus abuelos en un cantón que se llama Encumbrado, en las montañas arriba de Agua Caliente. Su mamá la trae a estudiar todos los días en la moto y Carolina siempre se pone su casco.
Su materia favorita es física y su comida favorita es lasaña. Bueno, le gustan todas las comidas. Lo que más le gusta a Carolina del colegio es el recreo, porque puede jugar con sus amigas. Le gusta jugar mica. Cuando sea grande, quiere ser doctora. Carolina dice que tiene un talento especial, que puede dibujar castillos.
Carolina nació en Estados Unidos y tiene una hermana que aún vive allí. Sin embargo, se vino con su mamá para El Salvador. El año pasado hablaba aún bastante inglés, pero ahora se está olvidando…y es muy penosa para practicar con la teacher. El papá de Carolina también vive en Agua Caliente pero casi nunca ve a su hija.

Carolina is eight years old and in second grade. She lives with her mother and her grandparents in the village of Encumbrado, in the mountains above Agua Caliente. Her mom brings her to school every day on her motorcycle and Carolina always wears her helmet.
Carolina’s favorite subject is gym and her favorite food is lasagna. Actually, she likes everything! Her favorite part of school is recess, where she can play with her friends. She especially likes tag. When she grows up, Carolina wants to be a doctor. She has a special talent, she says, which is drawing castles.
Carolina was born in the United States and has a sister who still lives there. However, Carolina’s mother, Mirna, decided to bring her to El Salvador. When she got here last year, she spoke a lot of English, but now she is forgetting…and she’s too shy to practice with her teacher. Carolina’s father also lives in Agua Caliente, but he hardly ever sees his daughter.
