José Carlos, o como le dice su familia, Carlitos, tiene diez años y estudia cuarto grado en el colegio. Su papá emigró a Estados Unidos hace aproximadamente ocho años y con su mamá se fue a vivir con sus abuelos paternos y su tío. Entonces, hace seis años, su mamá también le abandonó. Ahora, vive solo con los abuelos y el tío. Están en procesos de adopción legal.
Las materias favoritas de Carlitos son artística y física. En su tiempo libre, le gusta jugar PlayStation. Su color favorito es el azul y su comida favorita es el pollo, sobre todo la pierna!
Los abuelos de Carlitos saben que el colegio es el lugar más apto para él, ya que recibe ayuda especial con lectura y el cuidado extra que le ponen sus profesores. (Tiene bastantes problemas de lectura y seguido se confunde las letras.) Quieren que él siga estudiando aquí, pero a veces no alcanzan para la cuota, especialmente porque están cuidando un niño abandonado.

José Carlos (or, as his family calls him, Carlitos) is ten years old and in fourth grade at PNARDS. His father left to go to the United States about eight years ago, and he and his mother moved in with his paternal grandparents and his uncle. Then, about six years ago, Carlitos’s mother left him, too. Now, he just lives with his grandparents and his uncle. They are planning to legally adopt him this year.
José Carlos’s favorite subjects are art and gym. In his free time, he likes to play PlayStation. His favorite color is blue and his favorite food is chicken – the especially likes the leg!
Carlitos’s grandparents know that PNARDS is the right place for him to study, esepcially because of the help he gets with reading and the extra attention and care his teachers have for him. (Carlitos has quite a bit of trouble with reading and often gets letters mixed up.) They want him to keep studying here, but they have a hard time affording tuition every month, esepcially since Carlitos’s parents abandoned him.
