Veronica tiene catorce años y estudia noveno grado en el colegio. Hasta cuarto grado, vivió en un lugar remoto, lejos del pueblo de Agua Caliente, que se llama «El Cimarrón». Después, su familia se fue para otro lugar, Agua Fría, donde estudió quinto y sexto. Este año, su hermano menor, Adán, también ha venido a estudiar aquí. Es alumno de séptimo.
El otro año, Verónica quiere seguir estudiando en el instituto de Agua Caliente (bachillerato). Cuando sea grande, quiere ser secretaria o profesora. La materia favorita de Verónica es matemáticas y es muy atlética. Le gusta jugar fútbol, voleibol, y softbol. Su comida favorita es el pescado frito y en su tiempo libre, le gusta chatear con sus amigas.
La mamá de Verónica quiere asegurarse de que su hija reciba una buena educación católica, pero, como es madre soltera, se le dificulta la situación, especialmente como la abuela de Verónica está enferma.

Veronica is fourteen years old and in ninth grade at PNARDS. Up until fourth grade, she studied in a small town outside Agua Caliente called El Cimarrón. Then, she and her family moved to another little town nearby called Agua Fria, where she studied fifth and sixth grade. This year, Verónica’s brother, Adán, is also studying at PNARDS. He’s in seventh grade.
Veronica plans to continue studying at the public high school in Agua Caliente next year. When she gorws up, she wants to be either a secretary or a teacher. Veronica’s favorite subject is math and she is very athletic. She likes to play soccer, volleyball, and softball. Her favorite food is fried fish and in her free time, she likes to chat with her friends.
Veronica’s mother wants to make sure her daughter gets a good, Catholic, education, but, since she is a single mother, she can’t afford to send her daughter to PNARDS, especially since one of Veronica’s family members has some serious health problems.
